About me
Growing up moving between the US and China almost every year, J Wang is a NYC-based Chinese-American film writer, director and editor who is driven to tell stories about the melding of two very different worlds and within them, outsiders doing everything they can to find connection, even in the direst situations.
Her upcoming project, "Bili Bean," is a live-action short film about a plant in a chaotic family therapist office trying to rescue their lost bean, all while changing the lives of the humans along the way. Its mission is to put the audience into the perspective of the plant and change the way humans see our relationship to nature.
She has directed and produced videos both narrative and commercial, shown in film festivals like NFFTY and Katra Film Series at Alamo Drafthouse in BK. She previously worked as the director of video for EPIC Lab at Teacher’s College Columbia University and a post-production producer for IngrainedNY.
She has a BFA from NYU Tisch for Film & TV and is a Steve Jobs Archive Fellow. In her free time, she enjoys meditating, dancing and playing with her pet rats.
